PITTSBURG, Kan. - The 24th-ranked Fort Hays State men's track and field team finished in eighth place at the 2026 MIAA Outdoor Championships Sunday (May 3), highlighted by one runner-up finish. The Tigers finished the week with 38 team points, one All-MIAA performer and five national-qualifying marks.

Josiah Ball finished in a tie for second place in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best 16-11.5 to contribute seven team points. That mark moves him to 14th on the NCAA Division II performance chart and is fifth-best at FHSU during the DII era.

Hunter Angove chipped in five team points after placing fourth in the pole vault, successfully clearing the bar at 16-7.5 on his second attempt.

Both FHSU relay teams finished in fifth place, adding four points each. The squad of
Brock Deterding,
Nakari Morrical-Palmer,
Drew Tolar and
Bradley Nkosi finished the 4x100m relay in 40.87, while Deterding,
Jayden Michaelis,
Mayan Paz and Tolar ran the 4x400m relay in 3:13.85.

Two Tigers finished in sixth place in track events, chipping in three team points each.
Drew Tolar was sixth in the 200m finals with a time of 21.15, while
Farrin Mangelson ran the 5,000m in 14:39.31.

Nakari Morrical-Palmer finished in seventh place in the 100m finals, crossing the line in 10.73 to contribute two team points.

Jayden Michaelis added one team point with an eighth-place finish in the 400m hurdles, completing the race in 53.03.

Dean Clark narrowly missed advancing to the finals in the triple jump, clearing a personal-best 46-11 to finish in 10th place. That distance ranks eighth at FHSU during the DII era.

The Tigers will head to Kearney, Neb. for the last chance weekend next Saturday (May 9) before heading to Emporia, Kan. for the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships May 21-23.
