MANHEIM, Pa. – Fort Hays State Women's Wrestling is among the NWCA Top 25 for the first time in program history, released on January 16. The Tigers moved into the rankings at No. 21 for NCAA schools, thanks to a pair of individuals listed in the national rankings. FHSU is in its first year of competition as a team in 2024-25.
Fort Hays State received three points for the poll since
Nichole Moore is now ranked No. 9 at 138 and
Lexie Lopez is ranked No. 10 at 124. Team rankings are based on points generated from individuals in the national rankings. The NWCA ranks a Top 10 in each of the 10 classes.
This is the second time this season Moore and Lopez have been in the individual rankings. Moore started the season ranked No. 8 at 131 before she settled in as a mainstay for the Tigers at 138. This is the second time Lopez has held the No. 10 ranking at 124 this season.
In the supplemental poll released by The Open Mat on January 14, five Tigers received recognition among the Top 20 in each class. Lopez (No. 10 at 124),
Jamie Laswell (No. 13 at 131),
Amanda Jaeger (No. 15, 131), Moore (No. 10 at 138), and
Isabella Renfro (No. 20 at 180) received recognition. The Open Mat has FHSU at No. 19 in its tournament rankings and No. 12 in its dual rankings. The Tigers are 7-2 in dual action so far this year, which includes a pair of wins over nationally ranked teams.
The NWCA also released a new set of Regional Rankings on January 16. FHSU has 13 wrestlers listed among the Top 5 in Region 8 for their respective classes. The list includes
