KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State baseball team placed 13 student-athletes on the 2025 MIAA Academic Honor Roll, announced Thursday (June 5) by the conference office.

In addition to picking up a spot on the Academic Honor Roll,
Trey DeGarmo won the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award for a second-consecutive season thanks to earning All-MIAA status on the field and carrying a GPA of 3.50 or higher. He was one of 16 players conference-wide to take home the honor.

Trevor Baugh,
Sebastian Burgos,
DJ Cavazos,
Brandon Chavez,
Brett Jacobs,
Tyson Jimenez,
Zane Knox,
Brady Kreutzer,
Spencer Maley,
Cesar Saavedra and
Isaiah Ural. All but one of the recipients are repeat winners, including the third-such honor for DeGarmo, Jimenez, Knox, Kreutzer, Maley and Ural and the second for Ayala, Baugh, Burgos, Chavez, Jacobs and Saavedra. It is the first time Cavazos has been named to the Academic Honor Roll.

To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

First-year student-athletes, including transfers and true freshmen, will be recognized at the conclusion of the school year when they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
