NEWTON, Kan. – Fort Hays State Women's Golf placed 11
th as a team at the Newman Invitational, hosted at Sand Creek Station Golf Course. FHSU shot a two-round total of 659.
Alexis Elliott was the top Tiger finisher individually in 36
th at 18-over par.
Elliott shot rounds of 84 and 78 for a total of 162 at the par-72 venue. She had three birdies in the tournament, two of which were on par-3 holes in the first round.
Abbie Norris tied for 43
rd at 21-over after rounds of 83 and 82. She had back-to-back birdies in the opening round.
Hayden York and
Jaycee Oakley both tied for 46
th at 22-over. York shot 84 and 82, while Oakley shot 80 and 86. Oakley had three birdies in the opening round, while York had a pair of birdies in the tournament.
Kiley Maier tied for 49
th at 24-over with rounds of 86 and 82. She had three birdies.
Brynn Ray and
Ashlyn Koenke also competed for FHSU. Ray shot 99 and 90, while Koenke shot 92 and 98. Ray had a pair of birdies in the tournament.
Missouri Western won the tournament with a total of 596, while Nebraska-Kearney was second at 610 and Southwestern Oklahoma State was third at 612.
Fort Hays State returns to action October 13-14 at the Midwest Classic, hosted by Central Missouri at the Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg, Mo.
