Â
Tiger track and field returns to action this Friday (Jan. 16) at the Washburn Rust Buster in Topeka, Kan. Action is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. inside the Sneed Indoor Athletic Facility.
Â
It's the first action for the squad in over a month since they recorded five national qualifying marks and claimed eight event victories at the UNK Pre-Holiday Classic last month (Dec. 12).
Â
Live video will be available on
The MIAA Network at a cost of $15 per broadcast, $35 for a monthly subscription or $140 for an all-access pass. Live stats will also be posted
online here.
Â
The Tigers have recorded six national qualifying marks so far this season, including a pair that rank in the top two nationally. Senior pole vaulter
Annabeth Baalmann leads the country with her school-record clearance of 14-1.25, making her one of a dozen competitors across all divisions to surpass the 14-foot threshold this season.
Â
Meanwhile freshman
Katie Linenberger ranks second in Division II in the high jump with her top performance of 5-9.25, a mark that is second-best at FHSU during the program's Division II era.
Â
The men's team boasts the other four national qualifying marks, including a trio of pole vaulters in
Mason Younger (15-11),
Josiah Ball (15-10) and
Brady Deges (15-10).
Drew Tolar ranks 14th in the country in the heptathlon with a point total of 4,866 at the season-opening Boo Rogers Combined Events.
Â
This is the second of four scheduled visits to the state capital for the Tigers. FHSU recorded a pair of national qualifying marks and had two event champions in their first trip east for the Washburn Alumni Invitational last month (Dec. 6).
Â
The Tigers currently have 63 entries in the event, including 18 in the field and 45 on the track. A complete entries list is
available here.
Â
Looking ahead, FHSU will be back in action next Friday (Jan. 23) at the Rumble in the Jungle Invite in Pittsburg, Kan.
