The Fort Hays State men's and women's indoor track and field teams saw one school record go down and added five national qualifying marks Friday (Feb. 20) at a pair of meets on the final day of the regular season.
Â
At the Steve Miller Invitational in Manhattan, Kan., the 22nd-ranked women's team put together multiple highlight performances.
Taylor Hoskinson broke the school record in the 1,000m run with a time of 2:56.87, nearly three seconds faster than the 14-year old school record.
Â
Reba Mader nearly broke her own school record in the 400m dash, placing fifth with a national qualifying time of 55.95 which ranks 43rd in Division II this season.
Amelia Foster placed 11th in the same race, running in 57.32 to rank third on the FHSU Division II era performance chart.
Â
Annabeth Baalmann put together her second-best performance of the season, clearing the bar at 13-10 on her first attempt to place fourth. That national-qualifying performance would rank fifth in Division II this season were it not for her school-record clearance of 14-1.25 set in December.
Â
Hailey Brown finished in sixth place in the 200m dash, crossing the line in 25.61 to rank 10th on the FHSU DII era chart.
Â
On the men's side, a trio of pole vaulters cleared the national qualifying mark.
Josiah Ball set a new PR with a top clearance of 16-10.75. That performance ranks 12th in Division II this season and third at FHSU during the DII era.
Hunter Angove finished fifth after soaring over the bar at 16-4.75, while
Brady Deges cleared a personal-best 15-11 to finish seventh.
Â
On the track,
Luke Wessel finished first in the 800m run with a time of 1:55.19, while
Avrey Albright placed second in the 400m dash after crossing the line in 48.44.
Â
At the Loper Tune-Up in Kearney, Neb.,
Kendra Blaylock won the women's 400m dash in 1:03.42, while
Natalee North recorded a top heave of 53-0.25 in the weight throw to etch her name fifth on the FHSU DII era performance list.
Â
The Tigers will head into the postseason next weekend (Feb. 27-Mar. 1) when they travel to Pittsburg, Kan. for the MIAA Championships.
