The Fort Hays State men's wrestling team will send half its roster to compete in the Golden Norsemen Open Saturday (Jan. 31) in Miami, Okla. Northeastern Oklahoma A&M will host the event inside the Student Activities Center beginning at 9 a.m.

The Tigers will send a total of 16 student-athletes to compete, including nine attached and seven unattached. Fort Hays State is one of 15 schools currently entered in the event, including three DII opponents in New Mexico Highlands, Newman and Ouachita Baptist.

Competing unattached at 149 pounds, Markley ranks second on the team with 16 wins this season while raking up a team-high 11 pins.
Houston Frank is tied for third on the squad with 12 wins this year and will compete in the 184-pound bracket.
Julien Kimling is fifth at FHSU with 11 victories this season and is one of five Tigers that will compete at 141 pounds on Saturday.

The Tigers have had 26 individuals place at open tournaments this season, including five that have reached a championship bout. Two of those five are competing this weekend, including Frank who placed second at the Bob Smith Open and Kimling who finished runner-up at the Adrian Open.

Looking ahead, Fort Hays State will return to dual competition when the team hosts top-ranked Central Oklahoma next Saturday (Feb. 7) at 2 p.m. inside Gross Memorial Coliseum. Additional Tigers will head to Marshall, Mo. that same day for the Missouri Valley Open.
