KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State cross country teams placed a combined 22 student-athletes on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, released Tuesday (Jan. 6) by the conference office.

Eight of those 22 Tigers picked up additional honors, with seven receiving the MIAA Academic Excellence Award and one earning the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award.

Both teams had 11 honorees overall. Five women earned the Academic Excellence Award, including
Margaret Browning,
Abbye Hudson,
Kyra Nippert,
Makenzie Premer and
Emma Weiner.
Emily Diercks McCullough was the lone Tiger to receive the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award. Additional Academic Honor Roll recipients from the women's team included
Keziah Bachman,
Eden Bathurst,
Ashlyn Harbaugh,
Taylor Hoskinson and
Brenna Murphy.

The men had two Academic Excellence Award winners, including
Elijah McCullough and
Emery Wolfe. Others earning a spot on the honor roll from the men's team included
Brady Conway,
Christian Darrah,
Kaiden Esfeld,
Cole Krug,
Chayse McCullough,
Noah Morenz,
Ty Raulston,
Andrew Waller and
Ian Weich.

An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

First-year student-athletes, including transfers and true freshmen, will be recognized at the conclusion of the school year when they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
