Men's Wrestling Enters Postseason Saturday at Region VI Championships

The Fort Hays State men's wrestling team heads into postseason competition Saturday (Feb. 28) with the 2026 NCAA Division II Super Region VI Championships. Colorado School of Mines is hosting the regional this year, with action set to begin at 11 a.m. (10 a.m. MT) in Golden, Colo.
 
The Tigers will compete with wrestlers from 12 other schools all vying for a trip to Sioux Falls, S.D. for the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships, set for March 13-14. The top three placers at each weight will move on to nationals.
 
Live video will be available with a subscription to FloWrestling, with brackets and results also available online. Fans planning to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online at a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for youth ages 7-18.
 
Seven of FHSU's nine competitors are making their NCAA DII Super Region debut, while Cason Lindsey and Hunter Harris both have past regional experience. Lindsey placed fifth as a true freshman in 2022, going 3-2 at 149 pounds, while Harris competed at regionals at 157 pounds as a redshirt freshman in 2024.
 
Entering the postseason with a record of 12-4, Lindsey leads the team in winning percentage at .750 at 165 pounds. 197-pounder Ryan Patterson leads the team with 19 wins, including an impressive 15-6 record against NCAA Division II opponents.
 
157-pounder Cash Thomas is tied with Patterson with a team-high five technical falls, helping the junior rank third on the team with 11 bonus-point wins.
 
Fort Hays State has earned 36 placements at open tournaments this season, including a pair of champions. 141-pounder Kolton Field secured one of those tournament victories, claiming first place the Golden Norsemen Open. The junior heads into regionals on a hot streak, winning six of his last seven matchups including a pair of dual victories.
 
The Tigers have had at least one national qualifier each year since first competing at the NCAA Division II level in 1993.
 
Ten of the 13 teams in Region VI have at least one ranked wrestler in the most recent NWCA Coaches Rankings, including five with multiple ranked competitors.
