Fort Hays State Softball travels to Southern Nazarene on Tuesday (Mar. 17) for a non-conference doubleheader. The games are set to begin at 12 p.m. in Bethany, Okla. The Tigers enter at 12-11 overall, while the Crimson Storm is 12-14 overall. Live stream and stats will be available for the doubleheader at the links provided above.
Fort Hays State is coming off a 2-2 weekend in MIAA play, splitting doubleheaders with Central Missouri and Missouri Western. The Tigers have split their last three doubleheaders overall, which included a split with Southwestern Oklahoma State in non-conference action last week in Hays.
Southern Nazarene enters on a four-game win streak, its longest of the season so far. The Crimson Storm won the final game of a three-game series with Southwestern Oklahoma State and then swept a three-game series with Ouachita Baptist. All four wins during the streak were at home.
This will be the first-ever doubleheader between FHSU and SNU in softball. FHSU holds a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series, but all eight contests were single contests that were part of tournament events the Tigers played in. FHSU and SNU last met in 2024 on Southern Nazarene's home field during the Raising Cane's Softball Festival and FHSU won the matchup 2-0. The Tigers won the first five meetings between the teams from 2002 to 2021 before SNU won games in 2022 and 2023.
Hannah Green leads the Tigers with a .457 batting average and 19 stolen bases.
Peyton Shepard is not far behind at .418 and 17 stolen bases. Both have on-base percentages north of .440.
Abbey Duarte leads the Tigers in RBIs with 24, while hitting .368.
Lilly Mohr had a power surge last week with four home runs, taking her season total up to a team-best eight.
Solana Carpenter leads the Tigers in pitching with a 5-5 record, 3.09 ERA, six complete games, a save, and 52 strikeouts in 68 innings of work.
