Four Tigers Ready for First-Ever NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championship

Fort Hays State has four student-athletes in Coralville, Iowa this weekend competing at the first-ever NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship. The tournament will run Friday and Saturday (March 6-7). Action is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. both days.

Fort Hays State goes into the national tournament ranked No. 14 in the nation as a team, according to the latest NWCA Team Rankings released back on February 27. Isabella Renfro holds the highest seed of any Tiger in the tournament, tabbed as the No. 3 seed at 180. She enters the championship at 29-3 overall. Leiannah Landreth (117) is the No. 8 seed at 117 and holds a record of 21-9 for the season. Alexis Burton is 21-8 overall and will compete in the 160 bracket, while Nichole Moore is 17-5 and will compete in the 145 bracket.
 
The Tigers will be facing a range of wrestlers in the opening round. At 117, Landreth will face face the winner of an opening round match between wrestlers from Wartburg and Western New England. At 145, Moore will face No. 1 seed Reese Larramendy from Iowa. At 160, Burton will face No. 3 seed Tiffani Baublitz from East Stroudsburg. At 180, Renfro will face Isabella Gretzinger from Presbyterian College.
