Fort Hays State Softball hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State in a doubleheader on Tuesday (Mar. 10). Action is set to start at 1 p.m. at Fleharty Family Field. FHSU enters at 9-8 overall on the season, while SWOSU is 4-18 overall.

Fort Hays State moved back over .500 last week with a home doubleheader sweep of Bethany College. Both wins were by a score of 8-0 and both the run-rule came into play in the sixth inning. It was the first two home games of the season for FHSU after playing 15 games over three weekends in tournaments away from Hays.

Southwestern Oklahoma State won one of three games in its most recent series with Southern Nazarene. The Bulldogs' win in game two of the series snapped an 8-game losing streak. SWOSU is off to a 1-8 start in GAC play.

This doubleheader will be the last non-conference action before FHSU enters MIAA play this weekend on the road. The Tigers and Bulldogs met one time already this season as SWOSU claimed a 12-1 victory in Tahlequah, Okla. FHSU and SWOSU have an all-time series history tied at 6-6. SWOSU has won the last two games. This will be the first time the teams meet in Hays since the 2011 season.

Offensively,
Hannah Green leads the Tigers in batting average at .443, followed closely by
Peyton Shepard at .435. The duo has combined for 33 stolen bases at the top of the FHSU order.
Abbey Duarte leads the Tigers in RBIs with 22, while hitting .423 on the season.
Lilly Mohr has a team-high four home runs, while Duarte and
Audrey Gillespie lead in extra-base hits with eight each.

Solana Carpenter has a 2.82 ERA with four complete games this season. She has struck out 41 batters in 49.2 innings of work. She leads the team in wins with four.
