Senior Day

Fort Hays State Softball will play its final two home doubleheaders of the season on Friday and Saturday (Apr. 17-18). The Tigers host Newman and Central Oklahoma in MIAA action this week. The doubleheader with Newman is set for 2 p.m. on Friday and the doubleheader with Central Oklahoma is slated for noon on Saturday.

The Jets enter the week at 7-33 overall and 2-12 in the MIAA, while the Bronchos are ranked No. 20 and hold an overall record of 33-10 and conference mark of 10-4.

Fort Hays State holds an 18-25 overall record for the season, while going 4-14 in MIAA play so far. The Tigers are coming off a tough road trip to Oklahoma, where they dropped both games of doubleheaders with Northeastern State and Rogers State.

The Tigers hold a 33-10 advantage in the all-time series with Newman. The teams split last year's conference doubleheader in Wichita as the Jets won game one 2-1 before the Tigers took game two 5-3. The Tigers and Jets have split the last two conference doubleheaders between the teams going back to 2024.

Central Oklahoma leads the all-time series with FHSU 27-8. The Bronchos swept the MIAA doubleheader between the schools last year in Edmond, but they split the last meeting in Hays back in 2024.

Peyton Shepard has the opportunity to solely claim the FHSU career record for stolen bases. She has matched the record of 72 set by Bianca Adame back in 2014. Shepard has 33 stolen bases this season, good for the second most in a single-season at FHSU behind Adame's 40 in 2013. Shepard is hitting .375 for the season with a .433 on-base percentage.

Hannah Green continues to set the table for the Tiger lineup, hitting a team-best .431 in the leadoff spot. She leads the team in runs (43) and on-base percentage (.460), while recording 26 steals. The 26 steals is fourth most for a single season in FHSU history, trailing only Adame's two seasons of 30-plus and Shepard's current total of 33 this season.

Lilly Mohr leads the Tigers in home runs with 12 and extra-base hits with 18, while hitting .347 for the season. Abbey Duarte leads the Tigers in RBIs with 43, while hitting .320.

Solana Carpenter leads FHSU pitchers in ERA (4.20), wins (8), complete games (10), innings pitched (123.1), and strikeouts (67).

Senior recognition will be on Saturday between games during the doubleheader with Central Oklahoma.
