The Fort Hays State baseball team has announced a change to this weekend's non-conference series against Colorado Christian. The Tigers and Cougars will now battle in a pair of seven-inning contests on Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m. before a Saturday finale starting at 1 p.m. inside Larks Park.
The Tigers head into the weekend 12-27 overall and 9-20 in MIAA play, while the Cougars are 9-30 this season and 5-19 against RMAC opponents. FHSU is 7-11 at home this season, with CCU boasting a 5-18 record on the road.

Six Tigers are batting .300 or better this season, including
Gehrig Heckathorn (.429),
Antonio Avila (.368),
Derek Woolwine (.330),
Cooper Howell (.322),
Garretson Cook (.317) and
Tytin Goebel (.304).
Avila's 60 base hits are seventh-most in the MIAA, while the senior ranks fifth in the league with 15 doubles. Woolwine is ninth in the conference with 10 home runs and ninth in slugging percentage at .678.
Brett Jacobs leads the pitching staff with 46 strikeouts, eighth-most in the league, while also ranking eighth with three saves.
The Tiger defense has turned 36 double plays on the year, tops in the MIAA.Â
Fort Hays State is 7-1 all-time against Colorado Christian, including a 2-1 record at home. CCU added baseball as a sport in 2006, just in time to play one RMAC conference series before the Tigers moved to the MIAA in 2007. FHSU swept that series on the road. The teams last played in 2017, with the Tigers taking two of three at home.
Colorado Christian is hitting .289 as a team, with Mason Hagel-Pitt leading the way with a slash line of .345/.409/.564. Lucas Hinze has 21 extra-base hits, including 13 doubles, three triples and five home runs.Brady Ritzmann has started 10 games for the Cougars this season, striking out 26 batters in 46.1 innings of work.
Looking ahead, FHSU will play four games on the road next week beginning Tuesday (April 21) when the Tigers take on Emporia State beginning at 3 p.m.
