Men's Track and Field Ranked 23rd Nationally

NEW ORLEANS - The Fort Hays State men's track and field entered the top 25 in this week's USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Track & Field Rating Index, announced Tuesday (April 21) by the coaches organization. The Tigers are ranked 23rd in the country thanks in large part to a trio of performances that rank in the top 10 nationally.

The Tigers have accumulated 13 national qualifying performances this season. Drew Tolar is ranked fifth in Division II in the decathlon with a total of 7,096 points, while Hunter Angove ranks sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 17-3.5. Dean Clark also ranks inside the top 10, sitting in eighth with his school-record leap of 24-11.25 in the long jump.

Two others rank in the top 20 nationally, including Avrey Albright ranking 18th in the 400m with his school-record time of 46.80 and Jackson Rumford ranking 19th in the javelin with a top toss of 217-8.

This is the first time the Tigers have ranked inside the top 25 in the outdoor poll since the final release of the 2022 season. Fort Hays State is one of five MIAA programs ranked in the top 25 this week.

The Tigers will compete at home this week when they host the annual Alex Francis Classic on Thursday (April 23) beginning at noon.
