KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Eight student-athletes representing the Fort Hays State baseball team were named to the 2026 MIAA Academic Honor Roll, announced Thursday (June 11) by the conference office.

Brandon Chavez and
Derek Woolwine both earned the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award, given to All-MIAA performers with a GPA of 3.50 or higher. It is the second time Woolwine has earned the award and is the first for Chavez.

Others named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll include
Tytin Goebel,
Brock Griffin,
Dylan Haselhorst,
Brett Jacobs,
Tyson Jimenez and
Tony Moore.

To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

First-year student-athletes, including transfers and true freshmen, will be recognized at the conclusion of the school year when they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
