Fort Hays State Baseball had three individuals named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the 2026 season on Tuesday (June 2). Earning the distinction were Derek Woolwine, Brett Jacobs, and Tucker Russell. Woolwine was a repeat recipient of the honor and was an All-MIAA selection for the second-straight year. Jacobs and Russell received the honor for the first time as Tigers.
 
To be considered for Academic All-District honors, baseball student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and must have played in 90 percent of team games played or start at least 66 percent of the total number of team games played. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. They also must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility.
 
Woolwine is now a two-time recipient of this honor at FHSU. He was an All-MIAA Second Team selection for the second-straight year, earning the distinction as a utility player this year with time logged at both second and first base. Woolwine led the Tigers in extra-base hits (28), home runs (11), RBIs (45) and on-base percentage (.471). A native of Boulder, Colorado, Woolwine produced a 3.74 GPA as a Health and Human Performance major.
 
Jacobs was Fort Hays State's leader in pitching appearances for the 2026 season with 20. He made nine starts on the mound and also led the team saves with three. He pitched a team-high 69 innings for the season and notched 51 strikeouts. A native of Oklahoma City, Jacobs is a Criminal Justice major at FHSU and holds a 3.63 GPA.
 
Russell tied for the team lead in wins in his first season as a Tiger with three. He made 14 appearances throughout the season with 10 starts and logged 52 innings on the mound. He recorded 28 strikeouts for the season. A native of Olathe, Kan., Russell is a Management major at FHSU and holds a 3.69 GPA.
