The No. 6 ranked Fort Hays State men's basketball team returns to action on Monday, January 3, hosting Truman in conference play. The game is set to begin at 7:30 pm, which follows the women's contest at 5:30 pm. The Tigers are 10-1 overall and 4-1 in the MIAA, while the Bulldogs are 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the MIAA.
The Tigers went 2-1 on a three-game road swing to close out December. FHSU looks to keep pace in the conference standings with No. 19 ranked Missouri Southern, still unbeaten at 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the MIAA. The Tigers escaped with a three-point win in their last game at Northwest Missouri State, with
Corbin Kuntzsch hitting a game-winning shot in the final seconds to break a tie.
Truman has not won on the road this season (0-4). The Bulldogs are coming off a tough three-point overtime loss at home against Emporia State. The only win for the Bulldogs in conference play was against Washburn at home.
Dominique Jones continues to lead FHSU in scoring at 16.7 points per game. He has scored in double figures in all 11 games this year. He also leads the team in assists, averaging 6.1 per game, and ranks second in the conference. He is helping the Tigers lead the MIAA in assists per game (19.5).
Three other Tigers are averaging double figures in scoring, which includes

Karron McKenzie are providing scoring punch off the bench. Dayee is fifth on the team in scoring at 9.5 points per game, followed by McKenzie at 9.2 points per game.
