Tigers Move Up Two Spots in National Rankings

Fort Hays State men's basketball moved up two spots in the latest NABC Division II poll, released on Tuesday (Jan. 24). After barely holding on in the poll last week at No. 25, the Tigers moved up this week to No. 23 following an overtime win at Emporia State and a home win over Lincoln.

Fort Hays State has now been in 36 consecutive regular season polls dating back to 2009-10, which continues to extend its longest streak ever in the Division II rankings.

The Tigers will have a tough task staying in the rankings with a road contest at Northwest Missouri State this Saturday (Jan. 28). Northwest Missouri is in a three-way tie for the MIAA lead at 8-3, while FHSU is just a game back at 7-4. FHSU defeated NWMSU earlier this year in Hays by a score of 83-64.

The game at Northwest Missouri on Saturday marks the start of a three-game road swing. Fort Hays State plays the second leg of the swing at Missouri Western on Monday (Jan. 30), but that game will not figure into the next set of rankings.

Fort Hays State and Missouri Southern are the only two MIAA teams referenced in the Top 25 this week. Missouri Southern, one of the teams tied for the conference lead, checks in a No. 14 this week. Northwest Missouri State continues to be among teams receiving votes.
