The Fort Hays State men's basketball team hosts Sterling College at Gross Memorial Coliseum on Monday evening (Dec. 17) at 7 pm. The Tigers are looking for their fifth straight win and enter the game at 6-2 overall. Sterling enters at 6-6 overall.

Fort Hays State has a quick turnaround after an 87-80 win at Oklahoma-Panhandle State this past Saturday evening in Goodwell, Okla. The Tigers are 4-2 in non-conference games so far this year, which includes a 3-0 mark against NAIA schools. This is the second game in a three-game non-conference run for the Tigers, which started at OPSU on Saturday. Following Monday night, the Tigers will return to action on Saturday, December 29 against South Dakota School of Mines at home.

Dwayne Brunson leads the Tigers in scoring at 16.6 points per game. He scored at least 20 points in a game for the third time this year with 20 at Panhandle State on Saturday. He is also the team leader in rebounds at 7.8 per game.

Ben Congiusta moved to second on the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game after a career-high 21 points at Panhandle State. Lance Russell is third in scoring at 13.5 points per game, but is tied for the team lead with Dwayne Brunson for most games reaching double figures in scoring with seven each. Russell is second on the team in rebounding at 6.4 per game.

Craig Nicholson, the MIAA leader in assists at 6.6 per game, is now averaging 12.9 points per game. He has reached double figures in scoring in each of the last three games. He has recorded at least seven assists in a game five times this year. Carson Konrade also averages double figures off the bench at 10.0 points per game.

FHSU head coach Mark Johnson is now closing in on Bill Morse for second on the career wins list at FHSU. Johnson has 232 wins in his career and is just three shy of Morse's 235. He is not too far off from the all-time lead, which is held by Cade Suran with 257. Johnson, Morse, and Suran are the only three coaches in FHSU history to win at least 200 games at the school.
