Game Notes I Watch Live I Listen Live I Live Stats

The FHSU men's basketball team hosts Truman on Wednesday evening (Feb. 8) in Hays. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum. FHSU enters at 14-6 overall and 8-6 in the MIAA, while Truman is 6-16 overall and 4-11 in the MIAA.

The Tigers are coming off a three-game road swing in which they went 1-2. A 62-58 win at Missouri Western was sandwiched by losses at Northwest Missouri State and Washburn over the last two Saturdays. The Tigers are currently alone in fifth place in the MIAA, but games from here on out become crucial for positioning at the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City. Southwest Baptist and Pittsburg State are each breathing down the neck of FHSU, just a half game back of the Tigers at 8-7 in the MIAA.

Fort Hays State won the previous meeting with Truman this year in Kirksville, Mo., by a score of 63-58. That win extended Fort Hays State's win streak over Truman to eight games, dating back to the second meeting of the 2007-08 season.

Karron McKenzie continues to lead FHSU in scoring at 11.2 points per game, despite not reaching double figures in each of the last four games. Moses Dayee is averaging 10.7 points per game and leads the team in 3-point field goals made with 29. Kendrick Morse is also averaging double figures at 10.2 points per game and has scored in double figures in six of the last 10 games.

The Tigers have seen solid offensive contribution of late from Lance Russell and Omar McDade. Russell has reached double figures in scoring in three of the last four games, averaging 12.8 points per game in that stretch. He produced his two-highest scoring performances of the season in that run with 17 points against Lincoln in Hays and 16 at Washburn this past Saturday. McDade has reached double figures in scoring in three of the last five games, averaging 11.0 points in that stretch. He had a season-high 16 points at Washburn this past Saturday.

Also seeing his best scoring output of the season this past Saturday was Sean Dreiling, who went 3-of-3 from the field and 2-of-2 at the free-throw line for 10 points. Dreiling and Russell combined for 26 of Fort Hays State's 29 points off the bench at Washburn.

This game marks the start of a two-game homestand for the Tigers this week. After playing Truman on Wednesday, the Tigers will host No. 25 ranked Central Missouri on Saturday, the current leader in the MIAA standings at 12-3.
