Tigers Looking for Fourth-Straight Win; Host Sterling Saturday

Fort Hays State looks for its fourth-straight win on Saturday (Nov. 29) when it hosts Sterling College at Gross Memorial Coliseum. The game is set to begin at 4 pm. The Tigers enter the contest at 3-2 overall on the season, while Sterling is 2-5 overall.

The Tigers are coming off a hard-fought 82-75 win at Newman this past Tuesday, getting their first road win of the season. Newman was undefeated going into the game at 2-0 after wins over Emporia State and Washburn at home to open the year. The Tigers spoiled the Jets' attempt to knock off all four Kansas schools in the MIAA this year, as the Jets still have Pittsburg State to play.

This will be the final contest for FHSU before entering MIAA play next week. The Tigers host defending national champion Central Missouri to open conference play on December 4, then welcome Missouri Western on December 6.

Craig Nicholson is leading the Tigers at 16.8 points and 6.4 assists per game. He is the only Tiger averaging double figures in scoring, but eight players are averaging at least 6.8 points per game and seven average at least 7.6 per game. Nicholson is coming off a season-best 25-point effort at Newman.

Dom Samac is averaging 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He produced his first double-double as a Tiger at Newman of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jake Stoppel also produced his first double-double of the season in that game with 11 points and 12 rebounds, matching his career high for rebounds in a game. He leads the team in rebounding at 7.6 per game. Achoki Moikobu has been providing a spark off the bench the past two games, averaging 16 points in that stretch. He had a career-high 18 against Bethel and then 14 at Newman, now averaging 9.6 points per game for the season. Royce Williams is adding 7.8 points per game, while James Fleming and Jeremy Wilson are each adding 7.6 points per game.
