Fort Hays State faces a tough non-conference test on Saturday (Nov. 19) when it hosts No. 21 ranked Colorado School of Mines in Hays. Tipoff is set for 4 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Tigers enter at 2-1 overall, while the Orediggers are 2-0 on the young season.

This will be the first meeting between Fort Hays State and Colorado Mines since the 2005-06 season, the last year the Tigers were a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Colorado Mines used to be a program that perennially struggled as FHSU leads the all-time series 35-5. But since FHSU left the RMAC, Colorado School of Mines has built a solid program under head coach Pryor Orser. The Orediggers have seen plenty of time in the national rankings in recent years and have entered this season ranked No. 21 after a 24-8 campaign in 2015-16.
Â
Fort Hays State's last win over a ranked team in Hays occurred back in 2012 in a 67-66 win over a No. 25 ranked Central Missouri squad. But it hasn't been long since the Tigers knocked off a ranked team outside of the coliseum as they defeated a No. 15 ranked Central Missouri squad in Warrensburg last year by nearly the same score, 69-68.
Â
Rob Davis has been on fire over the last two games, scoring 33 against Sioux Falls before dropping 35 against Central Christian this past Wednesday. He enters Saturday averaging 26.7 points per game.
Hadley Gillum has also been great for the Tigers on offense, averaging 19 points per game after a pair of career-high 20 point performances to go with a 17-point effort.
