Fort Hays State Men's Basketball returns to the floor on Monday night (Dec. 18) at home against Newman University. The Tigers and Jets tip off at 7 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum. FHSU enters at 8-3 overall, while Newman is 5-5.

Fort Hays State is coming off a 34-point win over Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon by a score of 83-49. It was the second time the Tigers held an opponent under 50 points this year, allowing just one more point than their season low of 48 surrendered to Kansas Christian.

The Tigers have won their last two games entering Monday, while Newman is on a three-game win streak after starting the year 2-5 overall. Newman is 0-4 against MIAA teams so far this season, with their closest game in that mix being an 85-80 loss to Emporia State. The Jets most recently defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State 80-70 in Wichita.

This will be another key in-region game for the Tigers for their season-long Division II resume. FHSU is 4-3 against NCAA Division II competition so far, which includes a 1-2 mark against non-conference Division II opponents. The Tigers look to even that mark in what will be their last Division II non-conference game. FHSU will have just one non-conference opponent remaining overall on December 30 when NAIA affiliate McPherson College comes to town.

Hadley Gillum continues to lead FHSU in scoring at 17.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He ranks sixth and eighth in the MIAA respectively among those categories. He reached double figures in scoring in 10 of 11 games so far this year.
Brady Werth also averages double figures at 11 points per game.

Kyler Kinnamon is coming off an 18-point performance against Kansas Wesleyan, tying his career high in scoring. He has at least three assists in all 11 games this year and averages 4.9 per game to rank third in the MIAA. He ranks second in the conference in steals, swiping 2.2 per game.

Ben Ayre leads Newman in scoring at 13.7 points per game, while Dametrius Walker adds 12.4 per game and Kevin Bryant chips in 10.7 per game. Bryant is the team leader in rebounding at 7.1 per game.
