Fort Hays State looks to snap its three-game losing skid on Wednesday (Jan. 31) when it hosts Emporia State at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. The Tigers will attempt a season sweep of the Hornets after defeating them earlier this year in Emporia by 11 points. Game time is 7:30 pm, following the women's game at 5:30 pm. The Tigers enter at 12-8 overall, 5-6 in the MIAA, while the Hornets are 8-12 overall, 3-8 in the MIAA.
Â
The Tigers look to get back on the winning track at the coliseum after having its 11-game home court win streak snapped back on January 20 by then No. 2 ranked Northwest Missouri State. FHSU is 10-1 at home this season, while just 1-6 in away contests and 1-1 on neutral courts. The one away win was over Emporia State back on December 9. Last week the Tigers fell at Lincoln and Lindenwood on the road to drop below .500 in conference play for the first time this season.
Â
The Hornets are amid a five-game losing streak going into Wednesday. Emporia State's last win was on January 10 at home against Central Oklahoma. Like the Tigers, the Hornets have just one road win in conference play this year, a two-point decision at Lincoln. ESU has dropped four straight MIAA road contests since.
Â
Hadley Gillum leads the Tigers at 17.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He averaged 16.5 points per game in the two road losses last week.
Trey O'Neil scored a season-high 23 points at Lindenwood and averaged 14.0 points per game last week.
Kyler Kinnamon also averaged double figures in scoring at 11.0 per game in the road contests last week. Kinnamon dishes out a team-best 4.1 assists per game.
Â
Brandon Hall is the top scorer for the Hornets at 15.1 points per game. Stephaun Limuel also averages double figures at 11.5 points per game, while pulling down a team-best 8.2 rebounds per game.
