TOPEKA, Kan. - Fort Hays State track and field saw another school record go down Saturday (Jan. 29) at the Washburn Open. The Tigers have now seen seven records broken midway through the indoor season.
 
The women's 4x400m relay team of Lyric Holman, Chloe Stanley, Mattie Rossi and Taylor Savolt wrapped up the event by finishing first with a time of 3:51.23, setting the program record by 16-hundredths of one second. The time is an NCAA DII provisional qualifying mark and is currently sixth on the national performance chart.
 
Earlier in the day Holman placed first in the 60m dash with a provisional time of 7.60. Rossi placed second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.84 while finishing eighth after clearing a distance of 17-4.25. Savolt also competed in two other events, placing third in the triple jump with a leap of 18-7 and finishing eighth in the 60m hurdles after crossing the line in 9.16.
 
Gretchen Kuffel placed third in the mile run with a personal-best 5:06.53, moving up one spot to fourth on the FHSU DII era performance chart.
 
On the men's side, Hayden Albright finished fifth in the 400m dash, running in a personal-best 48.58 to move into second on the FHSU DII era performance chart. After winning the 600y run on Friday, Ethan Lang finished second in the 800m run with a time of 1:53.38. Aaron Mangan was fourth in the 800m run with a time of 1:55.53, while Trever Medina finished sixth in 1:55.85.
 
Kaden Wren, Mangan, Medina and Lang wrapped up the busy day with a sixth-place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:20.94.
 
The Tigers will return to action next weekend (Feb. 4-5) at the Herm Wilson Invitational in Wichita, Kan. hosted by Wichita State.
