AUSTIN, Texas - Fort Hays State baseball senior
Ed Scott has been listed on the 2023 College Sports Communicators Second Team Academic All-America, announced Wednesday (June 7) by the organization.

Scott was an honorable mention All-MIAA selection in 2023 after leading the team in numerous statistical categories, including on-base percentage (.474), runs (54), doubles (16), walks (35), hit-by-pitches (10) and stolen bases (11). His 35 walks were third-most in the MIAA, while his on-base percentage was fifth-best in the conference. He also contributed nine home runs, three triples and 64 hits for a batting average of .348.

The Manhattan, Kan. native started all 50 games in right field for the Tigers this season and was one of only two players to start in every contest. He recorded five outfield assists and made 95 putouts on the year.

He earned one MIAA Scholar-Athlete award, made three appearances on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, picked up two D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards and received a trio of NJCAA Academic Honors during his time at Cloud County CC.

Scott graduated summa cum laude in the fall of 2022 with a bachelor of science in technology studies with an emphasis in engineering design before pursuing a management degree this spring. He finished the spring 2023 semester with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.90.

Scott is the tenth Academic All-American in Tiger baseball history, and the first since Dusty Washburn in 2009. He was the lone MIAA baseball student-athlete to earn the distinction this season.
