TOPEKA, Kan. - The Fort Hays State track and field teams had one MIAA Champion, three All-MIAA honors, and seven national-qualifying marks on Saturday (Feb. 24), while six athletes made the finals for Sunday at the MIAA Indoor Championships.
In the women's 5,000m, Jaycee Vath and Regan Hodsden delivered a stunning one-two finish, with both athletes achieving NCAA Division II national qualifying marks and All-MIAA honors. This first place finish for Vath in a time of 17:06.10 was a new personal best. Hodsden was right with her, finishing in second in 17:06.39.
Fort Hays State had strong finishes in the distance medley relays (DMR). The women's DMR team comprised of Faith Little, Kinley Brown, Hattie Lukert, and Madison Sutterfield raced to a third-place finish with a time of 12:09.23. In the men's DMR, the quartet of Trever Medina, Kaden Wren, Ethan Lang, and Grant Bradley combined to finish fourth in 9:56.41, posting a provisional mark.
The heptathlon finished up on Saturday, with Ethan Salmans finishing fifth overall with a total score of 4,880 points. He earned a provisional mark with the performance.
Taylor Savolt secured a spot in the women's 60m hurdles final with a time of 8.80. Hayden Albright qualified for the 200m final with a time of 21.45.
The middle-distance events saw Ethan Lang and Kaden Wren advancing to the final in the men's 600y. Ethan Lang's 600y time of 1:11.12 was just a second off his personal best. Trever Medina secured a spot in the men's 800m final, clocking in at 1:53.59.

Dayton Williams had a clearance of 6 feet, 8.75 inches in the high jump, good enough for the provisional qualifying standard.
