Eight Champions, Four Provisionals for Track & Field in Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. - Tiger Track & Field headed north to Kearney, Neb. for the Loper Invitational today (April 19). The Tigers finished the day with eight champions along with four provisional marks, two for each gender.

In the men's 100m dash, Toby Wahlmeier surged to victory with an impressive time of 10.48, fast enough for a DII provisional mark. His stellar performance was complemented by Eddie McVay's commendable third-place finish, clocking in at 10.76. Continuing his reign of dominance, Wahlmeier showcased his speed once again in the men's 200m, claiming another first-place finish with a remarkable time of 21.34, leaving his competitors in his wake.

The women's sprinters started out well, with Tori Poe, Kinley Brown and Donna Jackson all accomplishing a top five finish in the women's 100m. Brown was able to notch a first-place victory in the 200m, a new personal best for the junior. The women sprinters were able to notch another victory, this time in the 100mH. Maggie Remsberg clocked the win, finishing the hurdles in 14.67, almost tying her personal best.

The men's 800m was filled with the presence of Tiges, with ten competing on the men's side. The men were able to notch a victory, with Trever Medina crossing the finish line in 1:52.60. Aaron Mangan, Lucorien DeBoest and Ethan Lang round out the top 10 finishers.

Jacob Clark ascended to extreme heights in the men's pole vault, capturing the top spot with a remarkable clearance of 17-3.50, setting a new personal best. Clark is listed as the second highest vaulter in DII history at Fort Hays State. The Tigers were able to finish second and third as well, with Brady Deges vaulting 15-7.75 and Kurtis McCormick vaulting 14-8.0. Annabeth Baalmann showcased her vaulting skills on the women's side, soaring 12-5.50, securing the win and provisional mark.

In the invitational women's javelin, Rhyann Brown asserted her dominance with a spectacular throw of 146-2.0, clinching first place and solidifying a provisional mark. Kieran Burke displayed her strength in both the women's hammer throw and shot put events, earning third and fourth place.

Tiger Track & Field will stay local next week with the Alex Francis Classic set for Thursday (April 25) at noon.
