Curry Receives Prestigious MIAA Softball A-Game Scholar Athlete Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State senior shortstop Regan Curry was named the MIAA A-Game Scholar Athlete for the 2025 softball season, announced by the conference office on Tuesday (Apr. 29). Curry holds a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Biology major at Fort Hays State with 93 credit hours passed going into the current spring semester.

The top 10 teams in the conference participate in the MIAA Softball Championship. Among all the MIAA softball student-athletes competing in the tournament, Fort Hays State's Regan Curry was selected as the sport's "A Game" Scholar-Athlete for 2025, presented by Mammoth, for having the highest cumulative GPA.

Established by the MIAA in 2022, the Mammoth "A Game" Scholar Athlete Award acknowledges the overall excellence of a student-athlete by recognizing one individual who has contributed to their team's success, while also achieving the highest academic standard among peers. The student-athlete honored with the "A Game" Scholar Athlete Award must be an active member on a qualifying team and must have a minimum of two-terms completed at the institution.

A native of Oskaloosa, Kan., Curry has been a vital part of the FHSU softball team for four years as the starting shortstop. Her defensive wizardry at the position has been key to Tiger Softball averaging just over 26 wins per season in her time on the field. Her 370 career assists ranks second in FHSU history, but first among players with just four years of eligibility. She was the MIAA Gold Glove winner at shortstop in 2024. So far this year, she has committed just four errors in 132 chances, good for a .970 fielding percentage, which at this point is her highest fielding percentage in any of her four years. At the plate, Curry has a .244 career batting average with 133 hits, 78 runs scored, and 73 RBIs in 204 games played.

Curry is a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection. She has earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award three times. By earning Gold Glove honors in 2024, she also received the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award. Curry is a three-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.

Curry is the first Tiger softball player to earn the "A Game" Scholar-Athlete Award and just the third Fort Hays State student-athlete to claim the honor. For more information about the Mammoth "A Game" Scholar-Athlete Award, click here.
