TOPEKA, Kan. - The Fort Hays State men's and women's track and field teams resumed their season Friday (Jan. 16) at the Washburn Rust Buster. The Tigers recorded two national qualifying marks and one event victory while two other athletes placed in the top three.

Annabeth Baalmann continued her strong season, winning the pole vault with a national-qualifying clearance of 13-7.25. She entered the competition at 13-1.5 after all other athletes were already out. The senior then took three good attempts at a school-record height of 14-1.75 but was unable to clear the height.

Mason Younger also cleared the national qualifying mark in the pole vault, placing third with a personal-best clearance of 16-0.75. That performance places the sophomore 10th on the FHSU DII era chart. He did not miss a bar in his three clearances on the day.

The Tigers had two runners in the top five of the women's mile, with
Taylor Hoskinson placing second with a time of 5:07.99 and
Emily Diercks McCullough placing fourth after crossing the line in 5:09.29.

Jayden Michaelis finished in fifth place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.50 with
Brett Eckhardt close behind in eighth place after crossing the line in 8.57.

Drew Tolar finished in fifth place in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 23-0.75.

FHSU had a pair of finishers in the top 10 in the 400m, with
Amelia Foster placing sixth in the women's race with a time of 1:00.23 and
Nakari Morrical-Palmer placing eighth in the men's competition with a time of 49.86.

The Tigers will be back in action next Friday (Jan. 23) at the Rumble in the Jungle Invite in Pittsburg, Kan.
