Men's Track and Field

Track and Field Competes in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Fort Hays State men's and women's track and field teams continued their indoor season Friday (Jan. 23) at the Rumble in the Jungle Invite. The women's team placed seventh in the team standings with 22 points, while the men were ninth with 13 points. FHSU
 
Annabeth Baalmann collected eight team points after placing second in the pole vault. The senior cleared the 13-6 bar on her first attempt, easily surpassing the national qualifying threshold.
 
Janae Fugitt finished third in the 800m run with a time of 2:21.63, earning six team points in the process.
 
Esther Clark-Pavlovich placed fifth in the mile, compiling four team points with a time of 5:09.49. That mark is good for 10th at FHSU during the program's Division II era.
 
Emma Weiner ran the 3,000m in 10:21.43, also good for 10th on the FHSU DII era chart. That time was good for 13th place.
 
The 4x400m relay team of Reba Mader, Amelia Foster, Hailey Brown and Ellie Harper collected four team points after running in 4:07.08, good for seventh place.
 
Liberty Booker placed ninth in both throwing events after marks of 40-9.75 in the shot put and 50-7 in the weight throw.
 
On the men's side, Dean Clark finished fifth in the long jump with a top mark of 22-6.75. That performance earned the Tigers four team points, while Clark also placed ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 45-4.5.
 
Mason Younger finished sixth in the pole vault after clearing the 15-8.25 bar, collecting three team points, while Will Wegerer tied for seventh with a top clearance of 15-2.25 to add one team point.
 
Mayan Paz chipped in one team point after placing eighth in the 600y. The junior crossed the line in 1:16.56.
 
The men's 4x400m relay team of Avrey Albright, Drew Tolar, Jayden Michaelis and Paz finished in sixth place with a time of 3:17.49, earning four team points and moving to ninth on the FHSU DII era performance chart.
 
The Tigers will be back in action next Friday (Jan. 30) when they split up for a pair of meets. A portion of the squad will head to Kearney, Neb. for the Charlie Foster Classic while the rest of the team travels to Topeka, Kan. for the Washburn Open.
