The Fort Hays State men's and women's track and field teams open postseason competition this weekend (Feb. 24-26) at the 2023 MIAA Indoor Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State inside the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan.

Action in the combined events will start on Friday at 2 p.m., with the men's heptathlon concluding Saturday morning. Field event finals and running preliminary rounds will start Saturday at 2 p.m. and will conclude with the finals of the 5,000m run and the distance medley relay Saturday evening. The remainder of the field event competitions will begin at noon on Sunday, with action in the track finals beginning at 1:30 p.m. A full meet schedule can be

Fans can watch the 2023 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships live on the MIAA Digital Network. For the first time in championships history, this year's broadcast will include specific event cameras to help provide enhanced coverage of the meet. Fans can purchase an individual camera for $10, or can select a $15 weekend plan and gain access to all 12 web streams that will take place throughout the three-day meet. Visit

Tickets are available for $8 per day or $15 for an all-session pass. Tickets for students and children will be available for $4 per day.

The Tiger men rank fourth in the latest USTFCCCA MIAA rankings, while the women are fifth in the computerized poll. In the preseason coaches polls, the women were ranked fifth while the men were picked to finish sixth. Both squads placed fifth at last year's meet, the best-ever finish for either team since joining the MIAA in 2007. The Tiger men currently rank 10th nationally in Division II.

The teams have combined for 32 national qualifying marks this season, including 19 from the men's team and 13 from the women's squad. Nine school records have been broken to date this year, including five women's marks and four men's records.

Eleven Tigers on this year's roster have earned indoor All-MIAA status in the past, including four previous indoor league champions.
Lyric Holman has five indoor All-MIAA honors to her name, including back-to-back 60m dash championships each of the last two years. Others from the women's team include
Taylor Savolt (2x indoor All-MIAA),
Emily Salmans (2x indoor All-MIAA) and
Mattie Rossi (1x indoor All-MIAA).

The Tiger men have three previous indoor league champions on the roster, including the two-time defending champion in the 600y run
Ethan Lang (4x indoor All-MIAA).
Philip Landrum also has four indoor All-Conference honors to his name, including the 2019 60m dash championship.
Ryan Stanley is the defending champion in the pole vault, one of two indoor All-MIAA honors for the two-time national champion.
Aaron Mangan has earned a pair of indoor All-MIAA awards, while
Nolan Churchman,
Hayden Albright and
Xavier Robinson all have one-such honor.
