The Fort Hays State track and field teams next compete at the Rumble in the Jungle Invite Friday (Jan. 23) in Pittsburg, Kan. Field events are set to begin at 12:00 p.m., with action on the track beginning at 2 p.m.

The Tigers are one of 16 Division II teams set to compete in the event, with nearly 800 athletes entered. FHSU will send 43 athletes to Pittsburg, with 17 women's competitors scheduled for 22 entries and 26 men's athletes set for 40 entries.

The Tigers have recorded six national qualifying performances so far this season, two of which rank inside the top three in the country.
Annabeth Baalmann is the national leader in the women's pole vault thanks to her school-record clearance of 14-1.25 last month.
Katie Linenberger is third in the country in the high jump after surpassing the bar at 5-9.25 earlier this season.

The men have four national qualifying marks, including
Drew Tolar who ranks 14th in DII in the heptathlon with a top point total of 4,866 and three in the pole vault in
Mason Younger (19th, 16-0.75),
Brady Deges (28th, 15-10) and
Josiah Ball (28th, 15-10).

The Tigers also competed in last season's Rumble in the Jungle Invite, breaking one school record and posting five national qualifying marks.

This is the second of four trips to Pittsburg for the Tigers this indoor season. A pair of multi-athletes competed in the season-opening Boo Rogers Combined Events, with Tolar posting his national-qualifying performance in the heptathlon. FHSU will be back in Gorilla territory in three weeks (Feb. 13-14) for the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic before returning for the MIAA Championships Feb. 27-March 1.

Looking ahead, FHSU will next compete at the Charlie Foster Classic in Kearney, Neb. next Friday (Jan. 30).
