Men's Track and Field

Track and Field Off to Maryville for Bearcat Invite

Fort Hays State Track and Field
at the Bearcat Invite
Friday-Saturday, February 6-7, 2026
Friday - 12:30 p.m. • Saturday - 9 a.m.
Maryville, Mo. • Hughes Fieldhouse

The Fort Hays State men's and women's track and field teams continue their indoor season this weekend (Feb. 6-7) with the Bearcat Invite. Eight Tigers will head to Maryville, Mo. to compete, with three competing on Friday and six Tigers in action on Saturday.

Drew Tolar will compete in the heptathlon for the second time this season. The sophomore opened the season by accumulating 4,886 points across the seven events at the Boo Rogers Combined Events, ranking 27th on the NCAA Division II national qualifying list and good for fifth-best at FHSU during the DII era. His competition will begin Friday at 12:30 p.m. before returning to action for the final three events Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Annabeth Baalmann will be the next Tiger to compete in the women's pole vault beginning at 5 p.m. The senior leads all Division II with her school-record clearance of 14-1.25 set last month at the UNK Pre-Holiday Classic. She is the only Division II athlete to successfully clear 14 feet this season.

Farrin Mangelson will wrap up the action on Friday when he makes his Tiger debut in the men's 5,000m run. The Hutchinson CC transfer twice finished inside the top 35 at the NJCAA Cross Country Championships.

Bradley Nkosi will run in the 60m hurdles prelims at 10 a.m. Saturday. The junior made his season debut last week at the Charlie Foster Classic, posting a time of 8.27 in the finals. That performance ranks second at FHSU during the DII era and is less than one-tenth of a second off the school-record pace.

Four more pole vaulters will compete on the men's side to conclude the weekend starting at 2 p.m. Saturday. All four have already cleared the national qualifying threshold at least once this season, making FHSU one of three schools in Division II to have four student-athletes post a national qualifying mark in the pole vault. Josiah Ball ranks 20th in the nation (16-7.25), Hunter Angove ranks 24th (16-3.25), Mason Younger ranks 29th (16-0.75) and Brady Deges ranks 37th (15-10).

The Tiger women enter the weekend ranked 22nd in the country according to the latest USTFCCCA Track and Field Rating Index.
