Six Men’s Student-Athletes Receive CSC Academic All-District At-Large Honors

Fort Hays State had six men's student-athletes receive 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District honors for at-large sports. The at-large sports category encompasses 10 men's sports.

Two from men's golf and four from men's wrestling received the honor for Fort Hays State. Six is the maximum amount an institution can have receive the honors for the year. Cooper Scheck and Jordan McCaslin from men's golf received the honor, while Jarret Mader, Ryan Patterson, Jaxson Thomas, and Cash Thomas from men's wrestling were honored.

For golf, honorees must have competed in 75 percent of the team's total varsity events that were team scoring events. For wrestling, honorees must have been in the lineup for a minimum of 75 percent of matches that were team scoring events, or wrestled in an NCAA championship event. Student-athletes must also have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA to be eligible for consideration.

Scheck is now a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection. He was the first ever three-time All-MIAA performer in men's golf at FHSU, while also becoming the first player in program history to reach the NCAA championship site as an individual. He competed as an individual at the NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional for the second straight year and by placing third this year, he was the top individual finisher not on a qualifying team (placed third overall), punching his ticket to the championship event. He finished the year with a 71.78 stroke average, the lowest of his career, and he also set a new FHSU career scoring average record at 72.42. Scheck held a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA as a Health and Human Performance major at FHSU and was also a finalist for the annual MIAA Ken B. Jones Award, which honors one male and one female as the conference's student-athlete of the year.

McCaslin earned the honor for the second-straight year. He played in all 10 tournaments for the team in the regular season, putting together a season scoring average of 76.23. He was one of three student-athletes on the team to play in all 10 regular season events. McCaslin is a Finance major at FHSU and holds a 3.79 cumulative GPA.

Mader won eight matches in his first year at Fort Hays State after transferring from Barton (Kan.) Community College. He competed in 11 of the team's duals throughout the year and four tournaments, including the NCAA Super Regional. He is a Technology Studies major at Fort Hays State and holds a 3.93 cumulative GPA.

Patterson was the team leader in wins for men's wrestling in 2025-26. He went 20-10 overall for the season, placing in two tournaments. He wrestled in four tournaments overall, including the NCAA Super Regional, and was in the lineup for all 13 of the team's duals going 11-2 in those events. He was also tabbed as the MIAA SAAC Student-Athlete Mentor of the Year. Patterson was a Management major at FHSU and held a 3.51 cumulative GPA.

Cash Thomas put together an overall record of 14-11 in his first season at FHSU after transferring from Colby (Kan.) Community College. He wrestled in eight duals and placed in two of the four tournaments he wrestled in throughout the season. Thomas is a Finance major at FHSU with a cumulative GPA of 3.60.

Jaxson Thomas won five matches throughout the 2025-26 season. He competed in 10 duals for the Tigers and placed in one of the two tournaments he wrestled. Thomas is a Health and Human Performance major at FHSU with a cumulative GPA of 3.60.
