GREENWOOD, Ind. - Fort Hays State's Cooper Scheck has been named to the 2025-26 CSC Academic All-America At-Large Team as a first team selection, announced Wednesday (July 8). The Academic All-America Team is voted on by members of College Sports Communicators nationwide, which reflects both academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected.
 
The Dodge City, Kan. native put together an incredible senior season, becoming the first men's golfer in FHSU history to reach the NCAA Championship site. He finished in a tie for 41st out of 108 players at nationals in Boulder City, Nev. with a three-round total of 1-under par after finishing third out of 116 players at the Super Regional in Big Rapids, Mich.
 
He was an All-MIAA performer for a third-straight year and earned PING All-Central Region honors for a second time, winning one event and finishing tied for first in another alongside four other top 10 finishes. Scheck posted a stroke average of 71.78 across 36 rounds as a senior, the lowest season average in FHSU's NCAA Division II history. Scheck posted 20 rounds at-or-under par, including nine rounds in the 60s and a season-best round of 66.
 
Off the course, Scheck continues to maintain a perfect 4.00 GPA as a health and human performance major emphasizing in sport and exercise therapy. He was a finalist for the MIAA's Ken B. Jones Award, earned the 2026 MIAA Men's golf "A Game" Scholar-Athlete and was named the FHSU Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2025-26 at the Tiger R.O.A.R. Awards. Scheck is a three-time recipient of the MIAA Academic Excellence Award, Scholar-Athlete Award and member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

He was one of two MIAA student-athletes to earn a spot on the men's At-Large Academic All-America team this season overall and was the only golfer.

Scheck's honor is the 82nd Academic All-America recognition for an FHSU student-athlete. He is the 18th Tiger to earn the distinction multiple times and is the 33rd first team selection. Fort Hays State has now earned four Academic All-America honors this season (Tadhg Walsh and Elias Ovelar Semeniuk - men's soccer, Josh Shaw - football), third-most in a single season in program history.
