Chris Honas, native of Ellis, Kan., earned NAIA All-America Honorable Mention honors for Fort Hays State at linebacker in 1983, recording 109 tackles despite sitting out the last two games of the season with an injury. He missed all of the 1984 season before returning as a senior in 1985 to lead the Tigers in tackles for the second time in his career with 108. He recorded over 100 tackles in each of the last two seasons of his career and had 87 tackles in 1981 as a freshman. In 1982, Honas played fullback for the Tigers, gaining 347 yards on 95 carries. Honas was a four-time All-CSIC selection, earning first team as a junior, second team as a senior and sophomore, and honorable mention as a freshman. He was also an All-District 10 selection in his junior season. Honas finished with 305 tackles in his career.
