Men's Basketball (1964-66)
Doyel was a two-time NAIA All-American for the Fort Hays State men’s basketball team, earning the honors in 1964-65 and 1965-66. Those two seasons were the only two years he was with the Tiger program. In 1964-65 as a junior, he averaged 15.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. In 1965-66 as a senior, he averaged a double-double at 17.6 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. In conference games alone in 1964-65, Doyel averaged 18.0 points and 16.0 rebounds per game. He earned All-CIC First Team honors as a center and drained over 100 free throws in each of his seasons at FHSU. Doyel ranks sixth in career free-throw percentage at FHSU (.722). He ranks third for most rebounds (23) in a single game at FHSU. His 12.0 rebound average in 1965-66 ranks fourth for a single season at FHSU.
