Men's Basketball (1948-52)
Bob Ziegler was a member of the FHSU men’s basketball team from 1948-1952. During the 1951-52 season, Ziegler broke the then single season record for points scored in a season with 302 points, which occurred in 24 games. He was the first player in school history to break the 300-point barrier in a season. Ziegler broke the old mark of 289, which was set by Glenn Mitchum in 1950 in 27 games played. He was a Topeka Daily Capital and United Press All-CIC selection at forward. He was also named to the all-conference team selected by the coaches. He was a member of Fort Hays State’s first CIC conference championship team his sophomore season.
