Baseball (1981-84)
A native of Russell, Kan., Curt Peirano was a member of the Tiger baseball team from 1981 to 1984. Peirano ranks third all-time at FHSU in games played with 196. Peirano holds the career stolen base record at FHSU with 95. His best single-season effort came in 1982 when he swiped 33 bases. He is second on the all-time list in at bats 688. He scored 177 runs in his career, which ranks fourth on the all-time list. His 233 career hits ranks third all-time at FHSU. Peirano ranks fourth on the all-time list in triples with 11. He had two seasons with five triples (1981 and 1984), which ties for fifth-best in a single season at FHSU. He ranks seventh in career RBIs with 137. His 344 career total bases ranks fourth all-time at FHSU. Peirano is still tied for the fewest strikeouts in a single-season at FHSU with at least 100 at bats, only striking out four times in 1983. He only struck out eight times in 1984. Peirano had a perfect fielding percentage in 1983, which has occurred only 11 times for players with at least 100 at bats in a season. Peirano was a two-time All-American selection for FHSU and a three-time All-District and All-Conference performer. Peirano graduated from Fort Hays State in 1984 with his bachelor’s degree in Business. He obtained his master’s degree in Management from the University of Phoenix in 1998.
