A native of Asuncion, Paraguay, Diego Cabral competed in men's soccer at FHSU from its inaugural year of 2011 to 2014. He was instrumental in laying the foundation for what has been a very successful program at FHSU in just 15 years of existence. Cabral was a two-time All-America performer as a midfielder, earning the distinction as a freshman in 2011 and junior in 2013. He was a four-time Daktronics All-Region First Team selection as a midfielder (2011-14) and a three-time All-MIAA selection (2012-14) since FHSU was independent from a conference in its first year of men's soccer. He set the program record for assists with 12 his freshman year, which stood as the record until 2017. He also set and still holds the record for most assists in a match with five, as no other player has ever had more than three in a match. He is the only player in program history to reach double figures in assists for a season twice. He set the FHSU career points record with 84 (24 goals, 36 assists), eventually topped by the program's only other two-time All-America selection Santiago Agudelo in 2018. His 36 career assists still stands as the program record. He also holds the FHSU record for career shots on goal with 108.
