Wrestling (1964-68)
A native of Salina, Kan., Robert “Stormy” Johnson competed for the Tigers from 1964 to 1968. Johnson was a two-time All-American for the Tigers, placing second in the nation as a sophomore in 1966 and fifth in the nation as a senior in 1968. Both All-American finishes came at 137 pounds. He helped the Tigers to a 33-28 record during that span, including a still-standing team record of 14-3 during the 1964-65 season. Johnson compiled a career record of 58-24-6, including a 39-10-5 record in dual action. He recorded at least 13 wins in a season in all four years at FHSU. Johnson also received the Outstanding Wrestler Award at the Junior Olympics in 1964. Johnson graduated from FHSU in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in Psych-Sociology. He went on to receive his Master’s of Social Work from the Atlanta University School of Social Work in 1973.
