Men's Track & Field, Football (1993-97)
A native of Andale, Kan., Keith Eck was an outstanding athlete at FHSU, who lettered four years in two sports, football and track and field from 1993 to 1997.  He was a starter for the football team all four years. He also began a family tradition of outstanding Eck athletes at FHSU. As a defensive back in football, he earned Second-Team All-American honors his senior year and Third-Team All-American honors his junior year. During his final two seasons, he also earned First-Team All-West Region and All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors. He recorded more than 100 tackles in a season twice in his career. In all four years Eck played football, the Tigers had winning seasons and made it to the regional playoffs twice. Eck was an All-American in track and field in hurdles, long jump and triple jump. At the 1995 RMAC Indoor Championships, he captured the 55-meter high hurdles and long jump titles and was named Most Valuable Performer. He was also the 1995 team’s Most Valuable Athlete. He earned All-RMAC honors 13 times, including six conference titles. He was named to the RMAC All-Academic Team four times and was the recipient of the Phillips 66 Scholar Athlete Award. Eck graduated from Fort Hays State in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems.
